Boundary Waters Trip August 2001

Here are some lovely pictures from our boundary waters trip. These four are the ones that had the best colors. Unfortunately the scan isn't as nice as the actual pictures, but they're still good!! They do look better on the big version but they take a long time to load and don't quite fit on the screen. Descriptions follow the images.

This one is a stream near one of the portages we made. Note the pretty blue reflection of the sky, and the nice reds of the fallen pine bits on the sun-speckled rock.   This is the view from our tent, looking toward the area the campfire would be (it is not burning in the picture).

This is a view along one of the portange trails. We didn't actually portage this one, but just walked to the other side to look at the lake there. I like the way the trees contrast with the red of the path, it reminds me of the picture Charles took in the Aspen forest in Colorado. My sister Kimberly is the one walking down the path.   This last image (I think) is from the canoe looking to the right at where we put in? Or perhaps it's from one of our fishing trips. In either case, the water looks great - very blue, except where you can see it reddens where shallow rocks are (the water had a high iron content). Contrast this with the sky and the green, this is the best picture that I got. Unfortunately in the scan, the water didn't come out as nice, so anyone who wants to see will just have to visit me.
