Wanted?!?

This is the session where we find out we're wanted by the FBI--at least Kathy, Adam, and Ray are. We're back in San Fran after rescuing Kay. Kathy somehow finds out that we're on the FBI's wanted list, but isn't sure what for. I call a friend in Chicago and find out we're wanted for the murder of Gary Augustine.

We do some poking around in San Fran. Given what little they can find on Temco, Adam and Kathy think the company must have friends in high places.

There's a cult in San Fran called the "Fellowship of Friends," its leader one Anthony Burton. He's the guy who had the golden box, wasn't he? No, that was Blake. What is Burton's connection to the golden box? I think he was financing the exhibit of Hito's paintings: this month it was Hito's paintings (many of which were owned by Burton), and next month it was to be Blake's stuff, but since the golden box was stolen it wasn't clear if that exhibit was going to go on. The exhibit of Hito's paintings was still on, at the Slately Museum. While Kathy and Hazel were off doing something, Adam, Ray, and Didier visited the museum and looked at the paintings. (Took some digital photos.) Thought they were disturbing, but nothing extremely weird about any of them. But back at the hotel Kathy took a look at one of the digital images and went into some kind of fit. When she finally came out of it she was really disoriented, and said something about hearing things, and a calf being born, and the ceiling swallowing her, and a bunch of disjointed things that didn't make much sense. She decided she wanted to go see the original, though that didn't seem like a really good idea.

Didier, Kathy and Hazel went back to the museum while Adam and Ray did some research. Kathy had another, stronger fit when she saw the actual painting; Didier and Hazel found her passed out on the floor. When she recovered, she seemed to be able to read people's minds.

Adam did some research and located some former cult members, and arranged to talk with a couple of them. Some of us drove out to scope out the cult compound, which was a big estate about and hour and a half south of San Fran. Couldn't see much but that there was a hedge around the whole place, an iron gate, several buildings in addition to the main building/mansion, some gardens and vineyards. There was a bluff overlooking the place, where we went up with binoculars, but couldn't see much except for some people moving around down there. Kathy claimed she could tell what they were thinking, though.

Drove back to the city. Kathy said she had a headache and wanted to lie down; the rest of us went to eat. When Hazel went to the back of the restaurant to use the facilities, Joseph Fowler (that one who had turned into a demon on us last time) turned up and handed her a note. It was requesting a meeting with all of us the following evening at 8, signed "R."

We go back to the hotel to discuss this before turning in for the night.
