Annette Divoucleé, Baronne d'Avidité

Aspect: 3MP: 5

Spirit: 1MP: 5

Gifts:
Worldwalker

Glorious -- People who see her desire to win her affection. To that end, they attempt to gain power/money. Thus it is that her Glory induces avarice which is not self-serving.

Flaws:
Affiliation: the Dark      Mission: increase Avaritious self-destruction

Excrucian Faction: Creation is drawing off vital esssence from The Other Side and therefore a danger to all (non)existence.

From the Nobile perspective, there is a terrible flaw in the universe, and "excruciations" are attempts to fix it, or scratch the whole thing and start anew. Of course no one would believe this if Annette told them.

Excrucian Cant: Strategist. Be strong in adversity. Be wise in decision. In action, be elegance itself.

Background:

This is from the perspective, of course, that she is a Noble. Haven't picked out any other flaws yet. But otherwise am set. Annette was born in 1615 to a wealthy wine and cheese merchant (reseller) in the coastal town of La Rochelle. Naturally, she aspired to a higher station in life. She read a great deal of literature and philosophy of the time. She in fact developed a theory of Power and Money as the prime motivations behind everyone's actions, and proceeded to find a young gentleman by the name of M. Julius N-- to present her theory for her. However, discussions with him and others desiring to be great philosophers eventually frustrated her to no end, not the least of which was their prompt dismissal of her ideas, no doubt in part due to her femininity, and also that her theory was quite counter to the themes of the time. As with many young women who had the means, Annette loved to paint. She was a decent artist, but not particularly fabulous. Now at a higher Aspect, she has naturally honed these talents somewhat. She is currently painting a great masterpiece within her Reception Hall. It looks finished, to those who visit, but indeed it is not as things alter on a near continual basis, both through her own personal attention and the painting's own volition (she imbued it with this property). Eventually, when the time is right, it will show the destruction of Avarice, but of course that is not apparent in any way at the moment. Her enNoblement was engineered by the Angel Tarot. One day as she was at the market (for of course, this was still something she was required to do), she found her way through a maze of places to a dock with a strange boat tied to it. Surprised, she thought she hadn't come nearly so far, and the boat was quite fascinating. As she considered it further, it came to her that it resembled one of her more fantastical paintings. Quite curious, she embarked to find the Captain, to enquire about whence it came, and its business. She didn't notice that it undocked and was moving before it was too late -- too far from shore to do anything. Curiously enough, there seemed to be no sailors apart from one fellow at the helm. "Beggin' your pardon, m'am, but it is in the Cards that you should Sail the Seas today" was all he would say. Despite her protests, her curiousity won out and she stood to the bow of the ship, waves crashing around her, until she espied land ahead of her. This is the dock of the Chancel, and no sooner did she step ashore did she find herself feeling quite strange indeed. Certainly this had something to do with the odd appearance of the land; possibly it also had something to do with the greeting by a young squire (a squire? how odd...); but moreso, she felt as she stepped down from the boat something overwhelming coarsing through her... her enNoblement. Her Estate on the chancel has a quiet manor surrounded by gardens galore. The cook rules the place with an iron fist, second only of course to Annette. She tends to walk around with an Avarice spirit on her shoulder, which sometimes does things she asks of it. Again, many might assume it's a pet she cares about, but in reality she doesn't particularly. It pleases her of course, but it is not a bond. The current one she has had with her for nearly a year and a half. I picture an Avarice spirit as vaguely squid-like, with a pointed round top and beady eyes, and lots of tentacles; somewhat sand colored usually. Can burrow through things, likes to steal stuff if given leave and somewhat mischievous. Generally she lets it do whatever it wants, as long as it's not counter to her own motives. She is acutely aware of station within the Nobilis. Her Private Cottage is in the French countryside -- this is one she was envious of while growing up. She does make sure that her family on her old estate (not near so nice) is well taken care of through subtle means. It never hurts to have people think your bonds are where they aren't. She has a number of trophies from successes that she's had in the past, kept in a secret place within her Estate in the chancel. It is a queer assortment of objects.
