Day n

After reading Alexander Goodness' note, our heroes have a lengthy discussion over how best to proceed. The group decide to subdivide into two mission teams: Sved and Guen are going to approach Queen Garlick and inquire after the statue while Brom and Jorr replenish the supplies in Town.

In Town, Jorr and Brom have a somewhat awkward meeting with Shawn Ogg, but do manage to leave the scene with offending Ogg too much. They proceed into the General Store where Jorr makes some excellent purchases. He has recently decided to expand his cooking repertoire to desserts; however, his attempt at culinary expansion is nearly thwarted by a hungry Brom with a sweet tooth and little money. As Brom steals candy from the proprietor, Jorr tries to hide his companion's not-so-stealthy munching by chatting with the Storeowner at length over the benefits of certain roots in various dishes. Successfully getting what they want, Jorr obtaining his roots and Brom filling his tummy, they head back to the wagon to await the others.

In the meantime, Sved and Guen head to the castle. Sved has "dolled" himself up, excited about meeting royalty. His aftershave, however, is fairly repugnant and while Sved himself is pleased with his slicked back hair and aroma, Guen realizes that - well to put it bluntly - Sved stinks. At the castle, Sved tries to charm Queen Garlick into having dinner with him while Guen artfully brings up the issue of the statue. Queen Garlick, blushing from Sved's not so subtle advances, produces the statue for them to inspect. They haggle over the price, and much to Sved and Guen's surprise, Queen Garlick lets them have it for a mere $55. Sved however has his heart crushed when Queen Garlick informs him that there is a King Garlick. Sved manages to keep it together, purchases the statue and leaves with Guen. On the way back to the wagon, while Guen ponders why she sold it to them for so little, Sved's thoughts are occupied only by his loss: "Bloody Kings!"

The group, once again re-united, decide to grab a quick brunch and then beetle out of town. Brom has a saluting scumble, while the others munch down some Sheppard's Pie. They head back to Ankh-Morpork. Their journey is relatively uneventful. Sved drowns his sorrows in poetry (composing several pieces including one for Guen). Jorr cooks like he has never cooked before and Brom seems generally contented with their conquests. Guen also writes a letter to Llyn.

Day n+3

Upon arriving at the city, which appears to be on fire yet again, they make a beeline for the Boss' House. There he pays them handsomely for the statues and asks them to do him another favour: to steal the "book" back from the Temple of the Alligator and then collect the five remaining statues. The group decides that it is best to try to nab the book in the evening, while many of the devotees are involved in ceremony.

While Brom, Sved and Jorr, keep watch outside, Guen sneaks into the temple to get the book. After navigating through several corridors and experiencing several close calls, she finally obtains the book, but also gets caught! Running desperately from her pursuers, Guen races back through the corridors to the exit.

The commotion inside eventually spreads outside. Brom, Jorr, and Sved debate what to do: should they go in? should they create a distraction? Brom, with his characteristic impatience, decides that they should do both! Throwing an unsuspecting Jorr into the Temple, Brom sets out on what he sees as a "mock fight" although Jorr is not so sure Brom is playing! Jorr bounces several times on the floor trying to get away from the bounding barbarian! Brom throws Jorr further into the temple, calling him names (not politically correct enough to share here) and using him as a battering ram of sorts, pushes his way into the temple. People follow the commotion! Cheering and egging Brom on, the crowd becomes frenzied! Sved follows trying to stay out of harms way. Unfortunately, (or fortunately), he falls against a tapestry that covers a secret passage way in a wall. Guen hearing the commotion, runs towards the noise and manages to escape through the tapestry/passage out the front door! As Sved struggles to un-entangle himself, Brom takes care of the remaining guards and pushes Jorr out the door following Guen. Outside the crowd begins to loot and fight amongst themselves! Our heroes manage to escape. They arrange to meet back at the Boss' house in the morning.

They go home to sleep.

Gm Note: First they met with Lord Furcelli (the Boss), who informs them that he will search the book for more clues and asks them to meet him in the morning. Brom and Sved decide to earn a little more cash and point out that perhaps he needs guarding. He agrees and Sved falls asleep on the front door while Brom guards the back door. The only incident during the night is another lightning strike on the house.

In the morning they meet with Lord Furcelli. He tells them about the remaining statues: Elephant in Howondaland, Puzuma in Klatch, maybe the Hedgehog is in Ephebe (it sounds like the Philosophers to have something like that), and that leaves the Bear for Ee. The party sets off for Ephebe on a ship. Brom and Guen promptly became seasick.
